GENERAL RULES: PLEASE READ & FOLLOW CAREFULLY
NEW RULES THIS YEAR!
Exhibitors may only enter ONE competition level, ‘Junior’, ‘Amateur’ or ‘Advanced’
A. All entry forms must be received by the Rockton Agricultural Society General Manager,
Bob Campbell, P.O. Box 38, Rockton, Ont., LOR 1XO, (519) 647-2502 by Fri. Sept. 25
Each late entry will be charged $1.00 per item.
B. Exhibits will be received in the Farm and Home building from 7pm to 9:30 pm on Fri. Oct. 2,
and 10 am to 4 pm Sat. Oct. 3, 2009.
C. No identification mark or printing of any kind is permitted on the front of any print.
D. Images previously shown at Rockton World's Fair will not be accepted.
The judgment of the photography committee, in this regard, will be final.
E. All photographs must be taken by the exhibitor. All entries submitted by the same exhibitor
must be distinctly different from each other.
Identical photos/images may not be entered under different classes.
F. Digital alterations on prints must be limited to traditional darkroom techniques. Cloning, brushes, layering and other non-traditional darkroom techniques will not be accepted except Class 41
G. An Exhibitor may enter one entry per class and participate in only one competition
Junior, Amateur or Advanced
H. Images which are considered to be objectionable or offensive will not be allowed
to compete or be displayed.
I. All competitions are for true amateurs only. Consistent top award winners
as determined by the Committee in Amateur Competition Classes, will be required to limit entries to Advanced Competition classes only, except Classes 16 & 39
J. All General Rules apply.
K. All prize winning entries will be displayed. Others will be displayed as space permits.
L. No photos with frames, glass or hanging devices of any kind will be accepted.
M. Judging will be based on composition, content, originality and, technical skill.
Prizes for all Classes: 1st, $11.00; 2nd, $7.00; 3rd, $5.00, unless otherwise stated
JUNIOR
COMPETITION
(Open to contestants 15 years of age and under as of Sept. 30, 2009.) Note New Age
RULES:
A. Visible print size must measure 5"x7" Note New Size
B. Prints shall be mounted on medium or heavy weight paper. Mounts 1/2" minimum
shall not extend
more than 1" beyond the print on any side.
No frame or glass allowed.
COLOUR PHOTO PRINTS
1. Vacation Scene or Activity
2. Family or Friends
3. Pets or Pet
4. Humorous
5. Nature
6. Any Other Subject (not to include subjects from classes 1-5)
SPECIAL - THE PRESTEDGE TROPHY (perpetual) to exhibitor
winning the most
points in Junior Classes 1 to 6.
A "Keeper" plaque is also awarded. Donated by Mrs. Prestedge,

in memory of her husband, Jim
SPECIAL - (Classes 1-6) Best Photograph in Junior Competition, $25

AMATEUR COMPETITION
(ALL AGES)
Open to ALL AGES. Amateur Exhibitors may also enter the ‘Feature Competition’
and Class 41, but may not enter any Junior or Advanced classes.
Rules: Visible print size must measure 5"x7". Mounts shall be a minimum of 1/2",not to exceed
1" beyond the print on any side. No frame or glass allowed.

ADVANCED COMPETITION
Open to ALL AGES, amateur and non-professional photographers. Advanced Exhibitors may also enter the ‘Feature Competition’ but may not enter any Junior or Amateur classes.
Prizes 1st, $15; 2nd, $10; 3rd, $8
RULES:
A. Visible print size to be a minimum of 7" x 7" to a maximum of 8" x 12"
(except for Class 34)
B. Mounts shall be a minimum of 1/2" and not exceed 2" beyond the print on any
side.
No glass or frame allowed.

special effects to a photograph (e.g. using filters,
adding illustrations, distorting image, colour & B&W combination, anything one
could imagine) - the main photo must be original to the exhibitor - please obey
copyright laws if you are adding material from other sources to your image
OPEN TO ALL AGES
FEATURE COMPETITION - COLOUR PRINTS
Open to all exhibitors regardless of level entered.

42. A collection of three (3) colour prints on Topic: - "4 Generations Working for Generations"
RULES: A. Prints Only: Minimum 5" x 5", Maximum 5" x 8"
