BALES OF FAIR FUN COMPETITION

SET UP DATE: Thursday, October 8, 2026,
1:00 pm – 9:00 pm
ON DISPLAY: Throughout Fair Weekend
Decorators can use their artistic ingenuity to transform the bales into imaginative displays featuring animals, structures, shapes and farmscapes. Props like corn stalks, gourds, and other agricultural items can be used alongside the hay bales to enhance the scene’s story. Wood, cardboard or other items can be used.
Important: Ensure all items are securely attached and can withstand all types of weather
Rules and Regulations:
- All registered contestants will be provided with bales at an assigned location throughout the fairgrounds (one large round bale approximately 4 ft in diameter and one small square bale)
- Bales can be placed lying on their side or standing but cannot be dismantled
- Bales cannot be painted as they are donated; any additional items attached to the display can be painted
- All decorating must be completed Thursday, October 8, 2026 between 1:00 pm and 9:00 pm
- All decorating items must be picked up Monday, October 12, 2026 between 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm
- All items/supplies used to design the hay bale are the responsibility of the exhibitors and need to be securely attached. The Rockton Agricultural Society will not responsible for any display items lost or damaged.
- The Rockton Agricultural Society reserves the right to remove any items/supplies that may be deemed unsafe
- Fair attendees will be invited to judge the displays throughout Fair weekend, ending Monday, October 12, at 12:00 pm. Attendees will be asked to consider creativity, construction, quality of work and eye appeal.
- Winners will be determined after judging closes

- If a category is full, contestants may compete “up” one age category, if they choose to do so
- Set-up time is limited to two minutes
- Personal CDs will be allowed but they must not contain the main vocal track

Rules and Regulations
- Open to children 14 years of age and under
- Pets must belong to the exhibitor’s family and live in the family home
- Animals must be on a leash or caged
- Pets must not exceed 200 lbs
- Children MUST be able to control their pet without the aid of a parent on stage
- No Entry Fee is required
PET/DOG POLICY: Pets are NOT allowed entry to the Rockton Fairgrounds except as pet show competitors. Competitors must vacate immediately after the competition. Licensed dog guides & service animals are welcome. (Identification from accredited service animal schools such as those listed at IGDF/ADI may be requested)

YARD DISPLAY COMPETITION

Rules and Regulations:
- Open contest to all residents and businesses within a 60 km radius of Rockton Fair Grounds
- Display should represent something you would see at the Fair, i.e. tractor, animal, midway ride, vegetable etc.
- Display must face a public road, but must be at least 10 feet back from road allowance
- Display must include a sign that states: Rockton World’s Fair, Thanksgiving Weekend, and preferably visible from both directions
- Competitors may only enter in the Residential or Business categories, (one display for address)
- Prizes will be awarded in each category
- All entries must be received by Wednesday September 23, 2026 via Assist Expo or by calling the office at 519-647-2502
- Displays are to be assembled and ready by 10:30 am on Saturday, September 26, 2026 for judging and remain as judged until Monday of Thanksgiving weekend, no exceptions
- Winners will be announced at the Meeting Place at Rockton World’s Fair on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at approximately 12:00 pm
- Judging Score: Overall appearance 30%, Originality 30%, Identifiable theme 20%, Visibility 20%
